This work portrays Kinutani’s childhood landscape of Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. It reflects the artist’s childhood memories and his respect towards the rich art of Nara that had been protected from war and damage to this day. The artist’s emotion of sorrow and memories of his nephew, who had helped Kinutani overcome the unbearable solitude while living away from his parents, flashes back. Green is the color of Nara. It is the color of nature that accepts all human weakness and misery, and allows us to have hopes and dreams for the future. The prayer for peace transcends time.
